How to Hack a Robosapien

    Locate the four screws on the back of the Robosapien. There are two in the shoulder and two on the waist. Loosen them.

    Remove the back plate.

    Disconnect the cable that connects the back to the circuit board.

    Remove the metal U-Bracket, Circuit Board and Switch from the Processor Kit.

    Place the circuit board on top of the back plate and line it up.

Robots is a very cool subject for anyone interested in science. There are many types of robots out on the market today that we don't really take a second glance at, such as Furreal Another awesome toy robot is the Robosapien. The toy, however, is limited to basic commands and movements. This article will show you how to hack your Robosapien in order to allow it to do more than what was intended by the manufacturers.

    Locate the four screws on the back of the Robosapien. There are two in the shoulder and two on the waist. Loosen them.

    Remove the back plate.

    Disconnect the cable that connects the back electronics to the circuit board.

    Remove the metal U-Bracket, Circuit Board and Switch from the Processor Kit.

    Place the circuit board on top of the back plate and line it up.

    Use your pen and mark the screw holes on the circuit board to the back plate with your pen. Repeat this with the battery clip hole and switch.

    Insert your #43 drill bit and drill the holes into the back plate that you marked with your pen.

    Insert 1/4" drill bit and bore out the switch hole and drill the wire access hole in to the center of the back plate just above the ventilation slats.

    Thread the small holes with the 4-40 Tap.

    Inside the main body find the large black bundle of wires and with your wire cutters carefully snip away some of the black plastic without cutting any wires.

    Locate the white wire in the bundle and cut it. Strip both ends of the wire.

    Cut six inches of wire from the processor kit. Peel the wires apart and strip the ends of the remaining two.

    Place 1/2" of shrink tubing over the ends of the wire.

    Carefully solder the red wire to the white wire, which disappears into the wire bundle.
